Leading The Good Life In A Positive Way
February 25, 2010 by gfrancis · Leave a Comment
Leading the good life in a positive way is relatively easy to pull off as long as one keeps in mind that the work needed to keep just a bit of the old life after entering into a new life after marriage or commitment can be significant. However, the rewards inherent in managing not only a new life, and possibly a new family, while also bringing in a bit of the positive aspects of the old life, can be great.
To use an example, imagine the days when you were a local guitarist of some note, playing weekend gigs with your bandmates and generally enjoying life on one level. Your life changed, however, when you finally met the woman who became your bride, and it was changed for the better, no doubt. You can still have a bit of that old guitarist life as long as you take care of your new life first of all. So pull out that old Ibanez electric guitar and have some fun.
Keep in mind an important word when it comes to all of the above; priorities. You’ve got to have them if you hope to lead a good life made up of many positive aspects that marries just a bit of what you once had in your old life with the far greater rewards you’re gaining in your new life. This means making a plan and sticking with it by figuring out what’s important and what’s not so important and then taking care of both in their own order.
Maybe you and your wife, for example, have welcomed a new baby into the world. That’s a fantastic occurrence, everybody would say, but how do you make sure you take care of the needs of the baby and your wife while also addressing your need to head out to the wilderness and photograph some of that beauty before it disappears? Well, you and the wife need only put the baby in something like an Eddie Bauer convertible baby seat and go together.
This isn’t to say that your significant other — whoever he or she may be — needs to share all of your personal passions 100% of the time but it is to say that having a spouse or significant other who is interested in what your enthusiasms are can be a good thing. For your part, you might want to consider addressing the needs of the home to take care of the family, such as hooking up a portable space heater and cleaning out the garage.
In reality, it isn’t all that hard to take a life and manage it in a way that allows you to have all of the great things that you once loved while also addressing all of the newer and greater things that you now love. For one, benefiting from a family’s love helps with personal growth simply because you’re sharing among the family all of the love that you’re capable of giving. This alone can be a great reason for planning out your life a little more.
Having a positive life full of meaning means understanding that taking care of business in terms of what’s important in your life will be essential above all else. There are certainly enough planning tools out there to help you along this path, as well as the advice of countless professionals and the assistance of friends. In fact, some planning tools can take you out several years, so get your life in order and appreciate what you have.
Desire, The starting point of all Achievement

The First step towards Riches
Napoleon Hill talks about the start line of all achivement – Desire. He writes that the desire or impulse to realize one thing in life can be thus nice that any obstacles regardless of how big or tiny can stop a personal from reaching the goal he has founded for himself. An individual with burning need, an obsession with success can go to any lengths until he succeeds. Failure will not bother him and after all he uses it as a stepping-stone to fuel his burning need for achievement.
Napoleon Hill mentions a few stories of everyday common people who within the face of insurmountable odds came out victorious. Scan on to perceive how want will amendment a mans life.
Mr.Edwin C. Barnes had one consuming obsession of his life; of course it had been a burning desire to become a business partner with a great inventor. Thus extraordinary was his want to become the business associate of Thomas A. Edison that he caught a freight train to Orange, New Jersey as a result of he never had cash to get the fare. Once arriving he straight made his method to Edison office and presented himself and asked Mr.Edison for a chance to become his business partner.
Mr.Edison was terribly impressed with Barnes determination that he gave him a likelihood to figure in the workplace at a terribly nominal wage. He worked with nice eagerness but never gave up the desire to be his business partner. He waited for his opportunity and when it came in the shape of a replacement invention known at that point because the Edison Dictating Machine. Mr Edison?s salesmen were not terribly excited over the machine. They Believed {that the} machine had no future and therefore selling it would be a difficulty.
Barnes knew that he may sell the product and steered this to Edison who agreed immediately. Barnes did sell the machine and visited become Edison?s partner. He was so successful that Edison gave him a contract to distribute and market the merchandise everywhere the nation. In fact their business grew by the slogan, ?Made by Edison and installed by Barnes.?
Therefore sturdy was his need that he achieved what he was out for. That’s all there’s to the Barnes Story of success!
Thus we tend to see that simply wishing can not build an individual wealthy but one must desire richness with a frame of mind that becomes a passion, then planning definite ways in which and means that to acquire those riches and not recognizing failure however persisting with a one track mind towards your goal. You’ll further grasp that you’ll be able to never have enough riches unless you’re employed laborious for it, it is a well-known fact that as you shall sow , so shall you reap. You should apprehend that every great leader, poet or actor are dreamers. After all so intense are their dreams that they see their dreams in non secular form before it can transpire into physical form. If you do not see riches in your imagination you will never see them in your bank balance.
Thomas Edison dreamed of a lamp that would be operated by electricity, he put his dreams into action and despite more than ten thousand failures; he stood by his dreams until he made it a physical reality
Lincoln dreamed of freedom for the black slaves, put his dreams into action, and barely missed living to see a united North and South translate his dream into reality.
The identical approach Wright brothers dreamed of a machine that would fly through air currently one might see evidence everywhere the planet how successful their dreams were. Invariably remember that practical dreamers do not quit!
As Napoleon Hill says ?All who achieve life get off to a dangerous begin and tolerate many heart-breaking struggles before they arrive?.
How will one harness and use the power of desire? This has been answered during this and the next chapters in the book Think & Grow Rich. You may if you search the Internet get this book in PDF form for free.
Using Mind Mapping Software to Create a Budget
February 19, 2010 by gfrancis · Leave a Comment
Mind Mapping software can be instrumental in organizing a variety of information. A particularly practical way to make use of Mind Mapping software is in constructing a budget. Most people find budgets an essential component of a successful financial plan, and software tools for creating budgets are quite popular. Most traditional budget-creation software presents financial information using primarily numbers and spreadsheets. Mind Mapping software, by contrast, allows for the organizing of financial information using visual graphics and pictures in a spatially “mapped” out format. Mind Maps, therefore, have the advantage of allowing one to create a budget in a creative and more intuitive manner.
What is Mind Mapping Software?
Mind Mapping software is any software that is used to create diagrams, pictures, and other graphic visuals in order to show the relationship between ideas or other types of information.1 With Mind Maps, the key concept or main idea of the information being presented is represented by a central image, located in the center of the map. Any themes surrounding the main idea are shown on “branches” that are attached to the central image, with subsequent themes of less importance attached by “twigs”. The resulting diagram is a “map” of the ideas and information shown in a spatial, rather than linear, format. Moreover, along with the ideas shown on the map are images, visual graphics, and colors that the constructor of the “map” associates with each of the themes and ideas. Mapping out information in this manner is widely believed to allow the brain to process the information in manner more consistent with its natural functioning.
Using a Mind Map to Organize a Budget
In general, the main purpose of a budget is to allocate a certain amount of money to various expenses, so that the money is not overly spent in one area, while leaving the other areas in a deficit. Thus, when constructing a budget, the most important components are the expected income and expected expenses/financial outlays to which the money will be allocated during the given time period. Consider the attached Mind Map diagram of a sample monthly budget. The overall expected income for the time period is represented in the center of the map. Attached to this central topic are “branches” showing the various expenses the income will cover, as well as the amount of each expense. Any subcategories of the expenses are attached to the expense “branches” via “twigs”. Throughout the Mind Map, colors and graphics associated with each expense are used. The result is a monthly budget that is “mapped out” in a spatial, visually stimulating and easily organized manner.
Mind Mapping Software vs. Traditional Budget-Creation Software
As mentioned earlier, traditional budgeting software often organizes financial information in a very boring, numerically driven format. While all of the information needed to clearly view the information is present, the information is usually visually tedious, making it more difficult to process. Mind Mapping software, by contrast, allows one to organize important financial information in a visually easy and interesting format, driven by colors and images, rather than data. This intuitive form of data organization can be quickly processed; a person can pick out the key components of his or her budget, as well as find specific expense items, with a just quick skim of the map.

Gain Personal Growth with Communication
February 17, 2010 by gfrancis · Leave a Comment
We’ve all found it rather difficult to develop personal growth in communicating our feelings or thoughts to someone else. Forming all the emotions and thoughts that are jumbled in our heads to a sentence or two can be challenging. However, we must interact with one another, because it’s what makes this large world go ’round. Instead of becoming frustrated, and assuming that the world just doesn’t understand us, we should first try to understand others. You can gain personal growth in communication with others, and here are but a few ways to help you achieve this:
Relax
Don’t become so wrapped up in how something should be or what would make it better. When you communicate with someone, and you develop preconceived notions on how they should be, you turn them off. Try not to be so firm in your beliefs until you completely hear what the other has to say. Take your time to understand someone, that is the trick. If you don’t have time for someone else, why, praytell, should they have time for you?
Probe
Begin by asking questions when you communicate with someone. After all, people don’t naturally walk up to others and start explaining everything they feel, want, like, and have been through. When you ask someone who you’re communicating with questions, they feel as though you actually care, and they will start asking you questions. Probing questions are what makes conversations. For example, if a person says they like to eat cheesecake, a good question would be, “What kind?” Simple as it is, it is rather effective, and keeps the conversing on a consistent and non-invasive level.
Listen
A question that is often asked of people is, if they should wait to speak, or actually listen. Forming statements or questions in our heads, and focusing solely on them until the person we’re talking to takes a breath in speech is rude, and reckless. When you abandon a person by waiting to talk we show them that we weren’t very interested to begin with, and rather selfish in this right.
Speak… Honestly
Lies are often uttered to total strangers. These are only little white lies, but they are lies, just the same. When you meet anyone, or talk to existing friends or family, try to speak with honesty. The more honesty you show, the more personal development you can gain in building integrity. When you speak honestly, you won’tt speak or do something opposite to what you feel. Try to apply this concept to every encounter that you have.
Be the Host
Let’s say, for instance, you go to a party. It’s a small gathering, maybe no more than forty people, and you have to mingle. You can communicate very well by thinking of yourself as the host of the party. Now, don’t lie and say things such as, “I paid a lot of money for this event. Do you like it?” Try to stay in your own roll or flesh as partygoer, but be as inviting, friendly, and comfortable as a host should be. People will begin to flock to you, coming to you for your command of entertainment and conversation.
Balance Yourself
You can most definitely gain personal growth in communication once you simply treat people the same way that you would like to be treated. A warning to you: the more friendly and sociable you become, the more responsibility you hold. You must be aware of your words, and compare them to your actions. Your feelings must be expressed in a non-attacking manner. Build those relationships, and further develop personal growth in communication skills.
